WHY YOU NEED Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal has been a game-changer in the beauty and wellness industry, providing a safe and sustainable method for hair reduction that delivers long-term results. This method uses infrared light to attack hair follicles at their core without harming the surrounding skin, relieving you of hair not only after treatment, but halting regrowth for years to come. We’ve had the privilege of witnessing up to 80% hair reduction for clients in as few as three laser treatments.
HOW IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL DONE?
Your provider will hover over the targeted area of your body will a small handheld device to provide intense (but very tolerable) blasts of energy to heat and destroy the hair follicles. As extreme as follicle destruction may sound, this process is typically quite comfortable for clients, made THAT much more enjoyable by Candela’s Dynamic Cooling Device that cools the skin prior to each laser pulse to ensure maximum comfort. Only the area treated will be exposed, and you and your provider will wear eye protection.
WHAT IS THE RESULT OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Each treatment targets the entire area you hope to focus on, but each hair on our body is in a different stage of growth at any given time. For this reason, we plan a series of treatments over a relatively short period to attain the most beneficial results. Keeping in mind that treatments are strategically spaced for optimal results, you will be able to notice a significant decrease in hair (and regrowth) over just a few months.
WHEN SHOULD I DO LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Most clients require between 6 to 9 treatments to achieve the best possible results, however, most people will need a touch-up session annually to maintain improvement. The frequency of treatments will depend on the area of the body you hope to target, as high regrowth areas are typically recommended every 4-8 weeks versus lower regrowth areas that are recommended every 8-12 weeks (we space these appointments out so we can target hair follicles in exactly the right stage of regrowth for exceptional results). We recommend proactively scheduling your complete treatment plan to ensure we can support you precisely when you’re ready.
Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?
Although one size doesn’t necessarily fit all when it comes to pain tolerance, most clients have very little trouble with pain or discomfort associated with this service, though some may compare the sensation to a light rubber band snap. We’re excited to provide a service with such long-lasting results, made even more comfortable by Candela’s Dynamic Cooling Device that further eases any discomfort during the treatment process. Don’t hesitate to speak with your provider about how they can provide the most comfortable experience possible.
FAQ
We choose to use the GentlePro Max by Candela because it delivers powerful results quickly, comfortably, and effectively. We will schedule an initial 30-minute consultation to learn about your goals and help familiarize you with the treatment process. Smaller areas can be treated in under 15 minutes, while larger areas will require 30-minute sessions to ensure we’re providing the most thorough work possible.
We highly recommend avoiding any hair removal methods for ~6 weeks before treatment to ensure we can effectively target as many hair follicles as possible. On the day of treatment, we appreciate it if you prepare by shaving the area, cleansing from any topical skin products (including makeup and deodorant if applicable), and protecting your skin with sunblock.
*Please keep in mind that laser hair removal is a form of light/heat treatment, and it’s important to prioritize the health of your skin before and after your treatment by mindfully protecting it from sun exposure.
Yes! Hair can be challenging in such a multitude of areas on our body, and it’s important to recognize that every client has their own goals and struggles. This is why we’re excited to offer treatment for pretty much any part of the body. We commonly focus on arms, legs, torso, back, and face, and additionally offer comfortable treatment for more sensitive areas such as nipples, bikini lines, and noses. If you didn’t read about the area you’re most concerned about, don’t sweat it! Talk to your provider and they will more than likely be able to make their magic happen.
Laser hair removal was originally the most effective for individuals with light skin and dark hair follicles, as it was the easiest for a laser to distinguish between, but this isn’t a respectfully inclusive option! Luckily, many advancements have been made to ensure this treatment can be provided safely and effectively for anybody. Candela’s GentlePro Max allows mindful and safe treatment for all skin types on the Fitzpatrick Scale, including the darkest skin tones.
Some clients may experience slight redness, swelling, or rawness on the surface of the skin following treatment, but these symptoms should ease quickly on their own (within just a few days). We will happily provide information during your appointment for aftercare guidance, but make sure to let us know if you have any concerns surrounding your body’s ability to handle this procedure.
Many clients feel relief from swelling by using a cold pack against the skin. Aloe vera or topical cooling creams can additionally ease discomfort, and it’s important to care for your skin post-treatment as you might have a sunburn. Mindfully protect yourself from sun exposure or activities that might further irritate your skin for a few days after treatment. We HIGHLY recommend leaving any hair in the targeted area to grow between treatment sessions, but especially avoid waxing and tweezing.
Laser hair removal can seem like a valuable and convenient investment for people experiencing pregnancy, but we always recommend discussing comments, questions, and concerns with your primary care provider. Unfortunately, the safety of this treatment has not been thoroughly studied in reference to pregnancy, and we always prefer to exercise an abundance of caution when it comes to body safety, as most medical providers will recommend waiting.
We highly recommend patch tests prior to receiving treatment (wait 48hrs). This not only helps you and your provider learn how your body will react but will assist your provider in specifically tailoring their treatment delivery to your body. If you live a long distance away, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will happily coordinate providing one for you via mail.
